On 8 December, this year’s Nobel Prize Concert will take place at Konserthuset Stockholm – a musical highlight featuring the young star violinist María Dueñas and the award-winning conductor Semyon Bychkov. Together with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, they will perform music by Modest Mussorgsky, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, and Victoria Borisova-Ollas.
“To perform in Stockholm for the Nobel Prize laureates is a profound honour,” says María Dueñas. “Standing before those who have dedicated their lives to the pursuit of knowledge, I am reminded that music, like the Nobel vision, seeks to transcend boundaries, unveil the unseen, and unite us in our common humanity. I am deeply grateful to contribute my voice to this moment of shared inspiration.”
The young star violinist María Dueñas has quickly established herself as one of the brightest stars on the classical music scene. Although still at the beginning of her career – she turns 23 just days before the 2025 Nobel Prize Concert – she already enchants audiences around the world. One of María Dueñas’s most celebrated qualities is her ability to breathe new life into well-known repertoire, something the audience will experience firsthand as she performs the beloved Violin Concerto in E minor by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy. This concert marks her eagerly awaited debut with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra.
María Dueñas’ fascinating qualities interact here with the extensive experience that characterizes Semyon Bychkov. The internationally acclaimed and multi-award-winning conductor Semyon Bychkov is chief conductor of the Czech Philharmonic. Born in the Soviet Union and now an American citizen, Bychkov emigrated to the United States in his twenties. He has worked with many of the world’s leading orchestras and opera houses, and has had close collaborations with, among others, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam, and the Orchestre de Paris.

Semyon Bychkov will also conduct the orchestra in Victoria Borisova-Ollas’s Open Ground (2006), inspired by Salman Rushdie’s novel The Ground Beneath Her Feet, as well as Modest Mussorgsky’s masterful Pictures at an Exhibition in Maurice Ravel’s vibrant orchestration.
The Nobel Prize Concert is an annual event of the highest international standard, where the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra performs alongside world-leading artists. The concert is part of the official Nobel Week programme and serves as a tribute to the year’s Nobel Prize laureates.
Tickets for the concert will be released to the public on 12 November.
